I'm trying a new thing, linking to stuff I tried or saw and enjoyed all over the net. I hope you discover new things too.
Cooking:
I tried three recipes from
the Pioneer Woman:
- The
Bread, I
adapted it freely to add some banana and chocolate
- The
Drip Beef, which was great for SuperBowl sunday, and quite delicious
- The
Salsa, made that one last weekend, great with dale's tortilla de patatas.
For people in Quebec city, dale got me the most perfect cupcakes from MlleCupcake, no website yet, but you can follow her on
twitter.
Monday night we also made a recipe called
aloo parantha from a weird blog called
the Waffleizer, it talks all about cooking in a waffle maker. I substituted the potato mix for cheese and coconut. The little cilantro sauce is delicious!
I'm also looking for THE apron, the one that my (eventual) kids will remember.
I found some great ones over at
Ice Milk Aprons but I think they're a bit expensive.
I also found some at
Jesse Steele, but can't seem to find the yellow polka dot one... and get it delivered to Canada. Stupid delivery system!
Photography:
As you guys might remember I sold my Nikon D70s a couple weeks back. And now, I'm watching very carefully what Olympus and Panasonic will come out with in the next weeks/months. I'm interested in this new micro four third technology, smaller and lighter than the big DSLR that Canon and Nikon keep making... we'll see.
Dale has the Lumix GF1 and loving it. I'm looking at something on the line of the Lumix G1, but the GH1 is way better, so I was thinking that one, but the price! the price! But good news the prices are coming down for the GH1 and the G1 has been discontinued, which means new announcements! Can't wait!
Pour changer de sujet, je m'intéresse aussi beaucoup aux anciennes caméras, et je viens de m'acheter une Olympus PEN EE, une "half-frame" camera. Can't wait to receive it in the mail.
I've also been reading a lot on Twin Lense Reflex camera. I've got my eye out for an old Minolta Autocord and a Flexaret VII.
If you want to read a great history of the TLR, visit
the Holga blog.
