Hier soir c'etait l'inauguration de Body Worlds 2...
And since Mom is sooooo cool... she got invited... (with 800 other people)...
Donc je me suis ramasser au milieu de la "classe snob" de montreal a regarder des corps...

Selon moi, l'expo Body Worlds c'est de l'Art pas de la Science.
Wierd art, but never science...
Au debut, on voit des os... ok, des os... on a deja vu...
On va plus loin...
Un corps, on lui a enlever les muscles et son squelette, donc on le voit deux fois...
Interesting... mais pourquoi il l'on ratache a un squelette d'enfant?
Un autre corps...
Pourquoi il lui on mis des yeux?
Pour qu'il est l'air plus humain?
(les yeux ne peuvent etre plastiner, trop d'eau...)

At that point... this is what goes thru my mind: "the dude wanted to find a legal way to cut open bodies, and invented this method... and we're stupid enough to go see it..."

La, franchement, entre le cerveau en plastique de mon cours de bio du secondaire pis ca... pas grande difference... au moins dans le cours de bio, il y avait quelqu'un pour me donner des explications.

J'ai quand même le goût d'aller voir par curiosité. Mais, j'avoue qu'après une couple de corps, tu dois être écoeuré. En tk, ça avait l'air cool à la télé.

i thought it was kinda scientific, and i got kinda choked up at parts.
i thought the x-woman was beautiful.
and i thought the two women who thought that x-woman's kidneys were lungs.
see - we need to be edumakated.

(This is a comment from a female Montrealer who is older than your "cool" mother.) I don't know you, but I was searching for comments from people who had seen the Body Worlds exhibit in Montreal, when I came across your blog. I strongly oppose the show on grounds that it is disrespectful of the dead, and is a money-making exploitation of powerless people who could have been "harvested" from China or Russia. (There is much on the Internet about Von Hagen's history and the possibility that these people might not have given their consent despite B.W.'s advertisements.) I also believe that if we consent to let our dead be used as commodities, then we become dehumanized, and this could eventially lead to mistreatment of live human beings. Good for you for seeing the "show" with intelligent, wise eyes!

It's a shame the media did not show both side of the medal... that not everyone LOVED the show...
This exhibit is all about show business and bringing in the crowds. The bodies are 70 percent plastic, and could have been just as informative if they were 100 per cent plastic. Real objects are not needed to teach. Some of the claims are laughable such as the idea that the exhibit will convince people to stop smoking. We see people who can't breath because of smoking all around us, yet we continue to smoke. Same with obesity and over eating. Nothing could be more real than this, or less effective. Bodies of the deceased should be treated with respect out of respect for the living. Using them to sell tickets lacks respect. Even if permission has been given by the deceased, this is not good enough. No one can give you permission to do something that is wrong. I have created a website with more information at
